About
This dashboard presents data on some of the Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA)'s core projects. We're publishing it to make our work more legible to others.
It's a work in progress, and does not showcase all of the projects or metrics in CEA's portfolio.
In particular, it does not yet include:
Some current projects:
Work done by our Community Health and Special Projects team,
Events run via our Partner Events program (formerly known as the Retreats program),
Groups supported by our Community Building Grants program,
The EA Newsletter.
Discontinued projects, such as our focus universities program.
Supplementary program metrics, or assessment tools that rely on confidential data.
For more information about CEA's work, visit our website. This dashboard was last updated January 02, 2023.
EA Global
EA Global conferences are designed for people who have a solid understanding of the main concepts of effective altruism, and who are making decisions and taking significant actions based on them.
Connections
At the end of EAG and EAGx events, attendees are asked how many new connections they made at that event. A connection is defined as 'a person you feel comfortable asking for a favour from'. See here for more on how the Events team defines a 'connection'.
We are missing connection data from EA Global SF '18, which was held prior to the wide-scale roll out of the connections metric.
Attendees
Likelihood to Recommend
In the feedback survey distributed at the end of EAG and EAGx events, attendees are asked: "How likely is it that you would recommend [EAG/x] to a friend or colleague with similar interests to your own?"

EAGx conferences are locally-organised conferences for people interested in effective altruism.

We are missing connection data from the following EAGxs, which were held prior to the wide-scale roll out of the connections metric: Netherlands '18, Australia '18, Nordics '19, Boston '19, Australia '19.

DownloadUniversity Group Accelerator Program
The University Group Accelerator Program (UGAP) is a remote program that helps make starting new EA university groups easy and accessible.
Organizers
Groups
In total, UGAP has supported 73 university groups in the lifetime of the program.
Note that since some groups participate in UGAP for multiple semesters, the below figure undercounts the total number of groups supported by UGAP per semester.

DownloadVirtual Programs
EA Virtual Programs are opportunities for anyone around the world to engage intensively with the ideas of effective altruism through readings, videos, podcasts, exercises, and weekly small-group discussions.
Number of Participants
We record someone as a 'participant' for a VP program if they have enrolled in a program and have been assigned to a cohort.
We're missing some VP data from the beginning of 2021, when the VP program was just getting started.
Completions
Completions are based on the following criteria:
Strong completion: Completed all sessions, and completed the exit survey.
Moderate completion: Completed 75% or more sessions.
Weak completion: Completed fewer than 75% of sessions, but didn't withdraw.
In the right hand side graphic, the 'weak+ completion rate' is equal to the proportion of total VP participants who graduated with a weak or higher completion from their program.
